Shotover Canyon Swing
109m high, 60m free-fall, 200m swing and 70+ ways to jump! Shotover Canyon Swing is a must-do activity for all adrenaline junkies, rain or shine. In February this year, I pushed my limits once more with another gravity involved adrenaline adventure, and boy was it an adventure! The Canyon Swing was first opened in 2002 by a group of dare devil rock climbers. Located above the famous Shotover River, you will find yourself awe struck by the amazing views awaiting in the ‘middle of nowhere’ jump site.
AJ Hackett Bungy – Kawarau Bridge
Did you know that the world’s first commercial Bungy operation opened up at Kawarau Bridge in 1988? Well you do now! In January this year I had the privilege of taking a dive off the famous Kawarau Bridge, surrounded by a postcard canyon, above a river meandering like a snake in the grass. The 43 metre jump is not the highest Bungy available in Queenstown, but you won’t be complaining about that when you are standing on edge of the platform with a rope attached to your ankles.
